On Conservatives
Here's a snippet from a conversation I overheard at the ball game yesterday; two older guys lamenting the Progressive Conservatives' finish in the recent Manitoba provincial election:
Dude 1 - I can't believe how many people voted NDP
Dude 2 - Yep, well, we just need some better candidates.
Dude 1 - Well, it's also all the immigrants. They're all left wingers.
Dude 2 - Yeah, take Fort Garry for instance. That place is really changing.
Now, I live in Fort Garry, and I RARELY see a person of colour wandering the neighbourhood. According to Wikipedia, Fort Garry has - gulp! - SIXTEEN PERCENT of its population immigrants. 5% of the population lists their ethnic origin as German.
The thing that made me laugh the most, though, was that neither one of the guys laid any blame on the fact that Hugh McFadyen is an idiot, or on that fact that "Bringing the Jets back" is a pretty dumb campaign promise to make.
