Sorry 'bout the nerdlieness...
Mostly these days I think about baseball. My roto league and the Northern League (picked up the season tickets today...that's what I call EXCITING!) take up a lot of my brain time.
There is, however, a provincial election coming up. All the parties seem to be talking about getting tough on crime - here's what bothers me: if we already have more cops per capita than most (any?) other city in Canada, and crime is still a problem, shouldn't we start thinking about hiring better cops rather than more cops? I'd like to vote for the party that says they're going to come out and hire smarter cops.
Also, last time I checked, the Criminal Code was a federal matter. So please, Messrs. Politiques, pray tell me what the #$%^ y'all could do about crime even if you wanted to? If someone wants to oust the NDP, they're going to have to come up with a better reason than Mr. Doer is "soft on crime."
