Pennant Races
Minor League baseball is fun. Right now the Goldeyes are in a position to win a wild card playoff spot, and even though they are a bunch of has-beens and never-weres, the games are all meaningful and it's a really exciting time to be a ball fan. And the seaosn ends in plenty of time to get excited by what the major leagues are doing.

Middle East Crisis
Things are fucked up in the Middle East. Apparently it's okay for one state to attack another, depending on whom you count as your allies.
